Embedded fonts as you said are an old trick. Delphi is using TTUNK objects to represent fonts.

Properties of TTUNK objects are highly discouraged.

If your font is really that small (up to 5k in the exe) you can add it to the Delphi project and embed it into your exe.

If you want to use the fonts in the standalone application, you may embed them with the ASSEMBLY directive.
