For both V4 and V2 profiles, I use the 'curves' files for both LookTables and HueSatMaps. And I prefer the curves files to be.lm files because they can then be easily edited. I also use these files to correct quantization errors in non-parametric segmentation curves. But for the V2 profiles, I ONLY ship the V2 data. I don't ship the parametric curves. If I make more versions of these profiles later, I might make the parametric curves into their own package.
I use a slightly different interpolation algorithm for the DCPs than the one in rawtherapee. One thing that isn't obvious is that I use cubic interpolation for the hollywood gamma and darkslider interpolation (see the ramp lm files for my multimedia-converted hollywood gamma curve if you're curious what I mean). My code uses the Bicubic interpolation algorithm in DCPs. But my favorite interpolation algorithm is Cubic. I think the reason is that Cubic interpolation has a more graceful handling of gamma, quite similar to the way the hollywood gamma (and other gamma curves) are handled.
"'Curves-' is the name of the package to install if you wish to edit your existing curves in rawtherapee, or if you wish to add more curves than the built-in ones supplied with the package. The package consists of 1 file in the current repository: d2c66b5586
